Our Practice
David W. Jensen, O.D. Dr. David Jensen is the third generation optometrist in the Jensen family with over twenty-five years experience. He chose this particular medical profession because of the personal contact with the patients. His collegiate education included Iowa State University and Pacific University College of Optometry. After two years of practice in Portland, Oregon, he returned to Iowa to establish his professional and personal roots. Since then he has atttended hundreds of hours of post-graduate training focusing on medical treatment of eye disease, contact lens fitting and meeting unique needs of children. His practice philosophy is to provide the patient with the newest technology and instrumentation, a highly trained, certified staff and personalized instruction about their individual eye care needs. A unique part of Dr. Jensen's practice is vision therapy. If you have questions regarding vision therapy and what it entails please call our office at (319) 338-6700. Sarah Opolka, CPOA, ABO Sarah, our personnel supervisor, was born and raised in Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa and received a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications in May '02. Sarah is currently busy planning her coming wedding in May 2010. She has been with Jensen Eyecare Center since September of 2003. Sarah became a Certified Paraoptometric in May 2004 and recieved her CPOA (Certified Paraoptometric Assistant) in 2005. One month after completing the CPOA certification she passed the national ABO exam in Chicago, making her a certified optician with the American Board of Opticians. She also recently completed her testing to become certified with the National Contact Lens Association. Along with the duties of being an optician at Jensen Eyecare Center she is also the Marketing Director. Her journalism education has helped the practice become better known in the community and provided the office with skills needed to let our patients know what kind of care Jensen Eyecare offers. Lesley Kuder, CPO Originally from Kansas, Lesley and her husband moved to Iowa City in 2006. She received her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University. Lesley is excitedly awaiting the birth of her first child in October, 2009! Lesley is our office vision therapist, Doctor's Assistant, and financial supervisor. Lesley has past experience in the field, as she worked as a vision therapist for two years at a practice in Kansas. Vision therapy helps children and athletes with visual pathway issues, and is a way to help strengthen the eye muscles. After joining Jensen Eyecare, Lesley received her CPO certification. She recently completed her testing to become certified with the National Contact Lens Association, and is working to pursue her certification in Vision Therapy. Lesley enjoys working with children to enhance their visual developement, and we are proud to have her as a part of our team! Jill Kennedy, CPOA, ABO Jill, our customer service supervisor, happily resides in Tipton with her husband and son. They are currently anticipating the birth of their second child in August 2009. She has been with the practice since November 2003. She received her CPO in 2004, her CPOA in 2005, and her ABO in May 2006. (The ABO makes her certified with the American Board of Opticianry.) As well as being an optician, Jill is the stock coordinator for the office. She enjoys being able to provide patients with the newest styles and products available in eyewear. Her favorite part of her job is working one-on-one with the patients, and helping them not only see better- but have a better self-image when they leave the office. Erica Pasker, CPO, ABO Erica has been with our practice since November, 2007. Erica and her husband reside in Cedar Rapids, where they enjoy gardening and working on their house in their spare time. Erica had five years of experience as a Certified Optician with an ophthamologists office in Waterloo before joing our practice. She recieved her ABO in 2004, and became a Certified Paraoptometric in 2008. Erica works with Lesley as the other half of our Vision Therapy team and is a Doctor's Assistant as well. Erica enjoys all of the positive changes that come with working in a smaller practice. She loves the chance to get to know patients better in a fun-filled and casual atmosphere. Mon Keomanivong Mon recently joined our office in September 2008 as a technician/Doctor's Assistant. Mon's husband is active in the marine corp, and they have spent the last several years moving around the country. They are very happy to finally be settled down back in the area they both grew up in! Mon has a lot of previous customer service experience, and enjoys meeting new people, and working one on one with the patients. She spends most of her time in our office pretesting patients before their exams, and is going to be pursuing her CPO in the spring. Sarah Maxwell Sarah is our newest member of the Jensen Eyecare family. She joined our practice in march 2009 as our receptionist. Sarah lives in the Iowa City area with her husband and four daughters. Sarah worked in the retail industry for almost twenty years before joining our practice. She is happy to be part of a business that allows her to spend more time with her family. Sarah looks forward to getting to know all of our patients as she continues to learn more about the optical business. |
