Vision Therapy
Vision therapy is a unique part of our practice. We have our own vision learning center and Lesley Holmes is our full-time vision therapist. Vision therapy is a part of optometric care devoted to developing, improving and enhancing people's visual performance. Nearly all humans are born with the potential for good eyesight, but vision (which is the ability to identify, interpret and understand what is seen) is a process learned and developed from birth. As we grow, our visual skills build on each other, step-by-step, in a process called visual developement. Unfortunetly many people miss or do not complete a step in the process, resulting in poor visual performance. Exercises to strengthen the eye muscles, done at home and with our vision therapist, can make a difference for those whose visual ability is poor. Not everyone is a candidate for the vision therapy program. If you are interested in this part of our practice- please schedule an exam with Dr. Jensen, and he will determine if vision therapy could benefit you. Please call 319-338-6700 for more information. |
